PPKUKM Agency Intensifies Supervision of Food and Beverage Products

The Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Agency (PPKUKM) together with the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BBPOM) carry out routine supervision of food and beverage products in order to welcome Idul Fitri 1444 Hijri in Jakarta.

This is done to protect consumers in Jakarta

Supervision also targets parcels/gifts, including measuring instruments, measuring, weighing, and equipment (UTTP).

It will be carried out from April 10 to 14, 2023 at 11 location points/outlets of shopping centers such as supermarkets spread across five administrative city areas.

Bazaar Takjil Benhil Food Products are Safe from Hazardous Substances

Jakarta PPKUKM Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo expressed that the supervision of food and beverage products is part of consumer protection.

"It aims to protect public health and the distribution of processed food products that do not comply with the provisions and the use of UTTP by established standards," she expressed, Tuesday (4/11).

She asserted it was focused on obtaining permits by provisions such as Home Industry Products (P-IRT), MD (Internal Food), and ML (External Food) issued by BBPOM, including checking expiration dates, packaging, and labeling requirements.

Meanwhile, supervision of the use of UTTP devices is by the provisions, such as having a valid certificate that is valid and not broken/damaged, as well as a calibration or re-calibration certificate.

"This is done to protect consumers in Jakarta. We'll continue to intensify supervision of licensing, food and beverage products, and UTTP used, thus it is hoped that goods that do not meet standards will no longer be circulating in Jakarta," she stated.
